Electra Townie Sport 105 wins “Design Distinction” in I.D. 2010 Annual Design Review
We at Electra are thrilled to announced that our Townie Sport 105 won the “Design Distinction” award in I.D. magazine’s 2010 Annual Design Review.
The Electra Townie Sport 105 bridges the gap between road and recreational biking. It is Electra’s stylish and comfortable alternative to the often undistinguished mass offerings of flat bar road and general fitness bikes. With it’s clean lines, patented Electra Flat Foot Technology®, Shimano 105 20-speed road performance gearing, and artistically composed colors throughout frame, components, wheels and spokes, this bike looks as good on the road as it does in an art gallery.
Electra’s design team is inspired by so many things outside of the bike industry, and have long appreciated the efforts of I.D. magazine to recognize and encourage the advancement of design form and function. We are certainly honored to have our Townie Sport 105 included with such an impressive group of designers covering so many different categories.
The harmony of design beauty and function is just part of our Way to Roll.

I love the idea of your flat foot technology. I always felt like I never “grew into” the bike i’ve had sinec I was 12! It’d be brilliant if you considered making a hybrid battery powered bike with the peddal assist functionality. I’ll admit, with the company name Electra, I assumed that’s what you sold.

Hi CMJ -
Test ride one of our Townie, Cruiser or Amsterdam bikes at your closest authorized Electra dealer to feel the Flat Foot Technology comfort, control and fit. Many of our bicycles have internal hub systems that let you shift gears with a simple twist of the wrist. With our Flat Foot Technology and easy shifting systems we are helping make it easy and fun for people to enjoy everyday fitness, recreational and leisure cycling. Right now we’re focused on human powered versus power assist, but the biggest thing we encourage is for you to find the bike you love the most and can’t wait to ride.
